R • A • W Photography Series | Exploring Fickett Hammock

Nature Photographers.. Join Alice Mary Herden of Green-Fly Media in exploring one Hernando County’s Environmental Sensitive Land Preserve: Fickett Hammock.

With the completion of the new trail, this two mile loop brings photographers a variety of storytelling opportunities.

This R • A • W Photography Series will help photographers learn about storytelling and the ability and creativity to look at nature differently.

This is open to beginners and experienced photographers.

Calling all Nature Photographers!!!

Whether you are a beginner or experienced come out and explore the wonders of nature at Chinsegut Wildlife and Environmental Area!

Spring is here and what a beautiful site it is. Enjoy a small hike to photograph wildflowers in their natural habitat.

We will meet up at Chinsegut Conservation Center to talk about the area we will be hiking and what photographic opportunities we will have. We will drive to the location for the Nature Photography Hike. Afterwards we can meet back at the Center to review photos, talk about Florida Nature Trackers and how to get your photos featured in the next issue of R • A• W | Real Amazing Wildlife Magazine

What to bring: Water, snacks, bug spray, camera, sunscreen, and hat. Laptop is optional.

What lens: Suggestions are macro, or wide angle.

-A $5 donation to the center is greatly appreciated.

The importance of conducting BioBlitzs is to identify and record as many species as possible in specific locations.

This not only helps “blitzers” understand eco-systems and habitats it also helps to organize people to benefit science.
These “blitzes” also help biologist and ecologist become aware of species that may be declining in numbers, become extinct, or potentially discover new species!

What to bring: including your backpack

  • ·         Camera, bottled water, bagged lunch (cooler), bug spray, sunscreen and any necessities you will need
  • ·         Wood ruler and/or a dime and quarter
  • ·         Pen and Small notepad

What to wear

  • ·         Experienced hikers only: long pants and hiking boots, t-shirt you don’t mind getting dirty! We will be exploring areas off trail
  • ·         Beginners and kids: long pants and sneakers, t-shirt,  hat

  • ·         Have extra memory cards
  • ·         Battery charged.. cell phone and camera batteries.
